- Bio
Nan Arthur, CDBC, CPDT, KPA CTP has been involved in the behavior and training field for more than 14 years with dogs, and for more than 18 years with cats. She has a deeply-held belief that her mission is to help pet parents and their animals understand each other and communicate clearly with one another using the science of behavior and training.
Nan was the first Adoption Counselor hired by FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) and worked with the San Diego Department of Animal Services in their largest shelter. In 2001, Nan was hired away from FOCAS to become Senior Behavior Trainer at the San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) & SPCA. She later added the title of Community Outreach Specialist, all the while designing and teaching many popular classes. Those classes included the Feisty Fido class and Nan's signature classes, How to Live Happily Ever After with Your Dog or Cat (workshops), as well as Puppy Fun Camp. The SDHS was awarded the designation "Best Place to Train a Dog" twice during Nan's tenure.
Nan currently owns Nan Arthur’s Whole Dog Training and provides private training and group classes throughout San Diego County. She works with all dogs, but specializes in impulse control, aggression, and fear behaviors. Nan is a ten year member of the APDT, and has been a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) for seven years. She holds many other certifications in the behavior and training field, and became the first Certified Dog Behavior Consultant in San Diego.
