I did not set out to become a dog trainer! I adopted a dog that was a real liability. While I was committed to helping him become a happy and confident dog, I was experiencing great difficulty handling him.
In an effort to solve my problem, I found myself traveling down the road of books, seminars, trainers, and schooling. My efforts led me to Karen Pryor Academy. It was clear to me that the Karen Pryor philosophy was in sync with mine, and I began to understand the meaning and importance of training.
With this new-found knowledge, Whispering Springs Dog Training was born. My goal is to teach and educate people about the benefits of positive training methods so that they can help their dogs. I am dedicated to helping dogs and their owners find peace.
- Bio
I worked at Verizon for 28 years and retired in 2007. Before I retired from Verizon, I completed an online course in dog training at Penn Foster. At the same time, I continued to attend seminars and read books on dogs, behavior, and learning. I volunteered at various shelters and rescues walking dogs, I worked as part of a Search and Rescue team, and I trained rescue dogs that were in boarding.
Learning is a two-way street. For our dogs, it teaches them behaviors we would like to see, and for us, we learn how to help our dog achieve those goals. I believe that lessons taught with patience and respect end with a dog more willing to listen. Education holds the key to getting there.
