Amber's first exposure to positive reinforcement dog training came when she was 11 years old and took the new family pet, a mixed breed shelter dog named Cory, to puppy class. It didn't take her long to figure out that this was what she wanted to do when she grew up!
After completing the basic obedience classes with Cory, Amber joined a local 4-H Dog Club and became involved in competitive dog sports, such as obedience, rally, agility, junior showmanship, and conformation. Throughout her “growing up” years participating in the 4-H Dog Club, Amber continued to soak up everything she could about positive reinforcement training. Soon, friends and neighbors were asking Amber for help training their dogs, and she began to offer puppy socialization and manners classes during the summer. Since then, Amber has loved helping dog owners communicate more effectively with their dogs. She especially enjoys working with families with children who have welcomed home a new canine friend.
Amber is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). In addition, she has five years experience as a veterinary assistant. She enjoys puppy socialization and basic manners, as well as training for dog sports including conformation, obedience and rally-obedience. She and her Australian Shepherd, Roo, are currently working on agility and parkour dog titles, and love to go hiking and camping in the mountains every chance they get!
