At Canine Concepts Behaviour & Training we are passionate about training and about changing behaviour in dogs. We use positive and non-confrontational training techniques exclusively. Our commitment is to help our clients seek relief, change, and improvement in their dogs. We work in close collaboration with veterinarians to provide you and your dog the most comprehensive service.

Canine behaviour is a dynamic and developing field. At Canine Concepts, all of our staff members spend considerable time pursuing ongoing education and professional development by keeping current on all industry literature.

Claire started her behaviour and training career in 2001 by studying Companion Animal Behaviour through the Technikon of Pretoria (South Africa). In 2003, she finished the three-year Tellington TTouch course and qualified as a certified practitioner for companion animals.

By the end of 2004, Claire had completed an 18-month internship at the Cape Animal Behaviour Centre in Cape Town. After working there as an associate consultant for a short while, she opened her own practice in Durbanville.

After completing the advance diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training in 2008, Claire became a diplomat of the UK-based Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE). Claire is also a member of COAPE’s Association of Pet Behaviourists and Trainers in the UK and South Africa, which strives to uphold ethics and professionalism in the training industry. Claire is also a member of the Pet Professional Guild, a collaboration among force-free pet trainers and professional pet-care providers.

In late 2010, Claire opened Canine Concepts, a 450-sqm indoor centre in Gordons Bay, the first of its kind in South Africa. In 2012 she became a CAPBT Practitioner.

In March 2013, Claire became the first Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Certified Training Partner (CTP) in South Africa.
