About Me
First Name:
Hope
Last Name:
Edwards
Summary:

Hope Edwards graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Dog Trainer Professional program in 2015. A volunteer at the Humane Society of Missouri in the education department, Hope works with children. She teaches and demonstrates to kids that dogs can be trained successfully with positive reinforcement, and that punishment is not only harmful, but unnecessary. Hope is also a member of the Greater St. Louis Training Club.

As she devotes more time and experience to dog training, Hope plans to offer private, in-home training. Her lessons will be geared to pet owners who want to learn how to teach their dogs pleasant manners, practical behaviors, and easy, crowd-pleasing tricks. Hope’s goal is to help people communicate effectively and build great relationships with their dogs, so that both the people and dogs enjoy living together.

Bio:

Hope Edwards learned how to clicker train with her mother’s dog, beginning in 2011, taking lessons from KPA graduate Lucy Bailey and the Greater St. Louis Training Club. She taught her mother’s dog enough behaviors to put on a holiday show for her family, which garnered rave reviews. Hope then delved more deeply into dog training by taking the Greater St. Louis Training Club’s Dog Trainer’s Course. She completed Karen Pryor Academy’s Dog Trainer Professional program, and graduated as a KPA Certified Training Partner (CTP) in 2015.

Hope volunteers at the Humane Society of Missouri in the children’s education department. She is also a graphic designer and photographer; Hope recently designed the logo and identity for a fellow clicker trainer’s new dog-training business. She designs posters, books, and neon signs, winning an international sign award for her 11-foot neon sign for Peacock Loop Diner in St. Louis.

The many hobbies Hope enjoys include a salsa dance performance group where she has applied what she’s learned about teaching people to train their dogs to teaching people to dance!
