I have been involved in dog training for many years. I started by competing in obedience and then becoming a trainer at my local club—more than 25 years ago now! I created Paw Performance eight years ago when I decided to specialise in training Heelwork to Music/Canine Freestyle and clicker training. During this time, along with many other dog-training and behaviour certificates, I achieved my IABTC Approved Instructor (Distinction). More recently, the certification I'm most proud of is my Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Certified Training Partner (CTP) with distinction status.
I am fortunate and proud to be competing at the top level of Canine Freestyle in the UK with Tyler, my Red Tri Border collie. We were the runners-up in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Crufts Heelwork to Music Freestyle Finals! Our success at the Crufts 2018 Semi finals means Tyler and I will enjoyed being finalists in the Freestyle finals four years in a row.
In 2017 we were proud to be part of the GB Team who won both the Heelwork to Music and Canine Freestyle Open European Championships. Our success at this event meant we made through to the Top 10 Individual finals too. We are also delighted to be chosen to represent Great Britain once again in the World Championships in 2018.
Archie, my 5-year old Pyrenean sheepdog, was my training partner during the Karen Pryor Academy Professional Dog Trainer course. He is also at the top level competing in Advanced Freestyle classes. Archie is my regular partner when we perform demonstrations at events such as Discover Dogs and Crufts. Alongside him I have my youngest dog Rio who is a lovely red and white collie who is working towards his first competition in Canine Freestyle.
As well as competing in the sport, I am a qualified Heelwork to Music/Canine Freestyle Judge.
