I'm Laurie Luck, founder of Smart Dog University, and I've been helping dogs and their owners since 1994. I choose to work with dog lovers because I understand how frustrating it can be to have a dog you'd like to spend time with, but not know how to get that dog to listen.
Smart Dog University represents over a decade of learning. We specialize in teaching dogs and their people how to work together. I love what I do and have developed many happy friendships, both canine and human, along the way.
Things I'm doing
In addition to being a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP), I am a faculty member of Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior. A professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
I served as President of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), an international testing and certification program for professional pet dog trainers.
I raise and train service dogs for a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service dogs to assist people with disabilities. I have also raised and trained service dogs for Hero Dogs, a charitable organization based in Brookeville, Maryland.
My dog and I are Delta Society-certified Pet Partners. Tango is a therapy dog and we are involved in the Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program, helping children to improve their reading skills.
I am a social media junkie and can be found at all the usual hangouts: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and, of course, the Smart Dog Blog.
I love to speak to groups about dogs, dog training, and social media and am a regular speaker at ClickerExpo, as well as national and regional conferences.
