Leanne Good has been an animal lover from a very young age. Rescuing birds; helping stray kittens; walking neighbourhood dogs; raising gerbils, rats, hamsters, rabbits; riding her horse in equestrian competitions; and always trying to find animals to be around, she studied the behaviours of many species. At one point Leanne's nickname became Dr. “DoLittle” since her house was full of a variety of animals. From a childhood of training the family dog, and then training the neighbour’s dogs, and then the dogs of anyone who would let her help, Leanne's knowledge and experience with dogs continued and developed over a 20 year period as she took training seriously as an adult.
Today, Leanne has been a co-trainer for a 4-H Dog Program in her community, teaching children from 9-19 how to be better human partners to their canine companions. She also has helped a service dog agency train specific behaviours with dogs that have been matched with a human partner who has particular needs. Leanne also competes in Rally and Obedience with her own dogs, and has recently started doing Nosework as well.
Leanne's passion is to help people have the best canine companion they can have, a dog that can be a wonderful part of their family. She believes that including dogs is most easily accomplished when dogs have developed manners and self-control. Leanne is also passionate about bite prevention and teaches proper handling and interactions to parents and children alike.
A Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP), Leanne is also a Puppy Start Right Instructor, a member of Doggone Safe, a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and a member of the Pet Professional Guild.
