Roz teaches pet dog training classes in the Levels Program at Fur-Get Me Not, a positive reinforcement dog training facility in Arlington, Virginia. Fur-Get Me Not’s specialties are getting adopted rescues off to a good start and developing well-mannered family dogs.

Bio:

Roz first became interested in dog training after adopting four dogs and attending a conference sponsored by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) in Houston in 2000. For many years, Roz taught family dog training classes in an award-winning dog training facility in northern Virginia. Roz is a certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for the American Kennel Club (AKC) and recently achieved the status of TAGteach Primary. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge and Skills Assessed (CPDT-KSA) through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), and is a professional member of the APDT. Roz is a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a Canine Life and Social Skills Evaluator.  Roz participates in the sport of Canine Nose Work with her dogs.

Volunteering at local animal shelters has provided Roz with a wealth of experience dealing with the special needs of adopted and rescued dogs. Currently, Roz volunteers for the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue of Virginia. Roz continues to keep current in the field of dog training and behavior by reading, networking with other trainers, and attending seminars and workshops. In July of 2011, Roz graduated from Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior (KPA) with Distinction, and looks forward to learning more about the science and application of positive training.

Roz and her dogs love the sport of Nose Work and compete in trials sponsored by the NACSW.  Sam received 3rd Place in an NW 1 trial, and earned his NW 2 title (3rd Place Overall, 2nd Place Exteriors, and 3rd Place Containers). Sam has three NW 3 titles, his Elite title, and all of his Element titles.  Recently, Sam received 3rd Place in Interiors at an NW 3 trial.   Maggie Moo received her NW1 Title (2nd Place Vehicles) and her NW 2 Title (1st Place Overall, 1st Place Exteriors, 2nd Place Interior Search).   Katie has earned her NW 1 title.

Roz resides in Alexandria with her husband, Alan, and her three Canine Good Citizens—Katie, a standard poodle, Maggie Moo, an Australian shepherd/American Staffordshire terrier mix, and Sam, a border collie mix.
