About Me
First Name:
Tara
Last Name:
Reynaud
Summary:

Tara Reynaud’s love of animals, and dogs in particular, began at an early age. She welcomed her first puppy, a border collie, at age 5 and has had a dog ever since! Tara’s love of dogs continued as she volunteered for organizations such as Aussie Rescue and Border Collie Rescue as a fosterer, socializer/trainer, and transporter.

Dogs and dog activities have always been Tara’s hobbies; she has participated in obedience, confirmation, and CGC work with all of her dogs. In 2013, Tara decided to take her passion and turn it into her life’s work. After studying through Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior (KPA) and receiving KPA Certified Training Partner (CTP) designation, Tara has made dog training her main focus. Currently the owner of Whadda Good Dog, she helps families with dogs learn to communicate better and live happily with their wagging friends.

Experienced with many different methods of training over the years, Tara is convinced of the “magic” behind the science of positive reinforcement training. She continues to study animal behavior passionately; she studied with Dr. Susan Friedman in Living and Learning with Animals in 2016. Tara holds certificates for Canine CPR and Puppy Start Right for Instructors, and recently achieved her CPDT-KA designation. To keep current with the positive reinforcement community, Tara collaborates with other KPA graduates regularly and is a member of APDT and Doggone Safe.

Tara lives with her family in North Tustin, California. Their little “farm” includes a rescued poodle-mix, two cats, seven bunnies, and six hens.

Bio:

Tara Reynaud’s passion for dogs compelled her to make a major career change and focus on Whadda Good Dog—her training business. Just before opening her own business, Tara managed training for a local training facility. In her career before animal training, Tara worked as a recruiter, focused on cleantech and renewable energy companies, and locating the top talent companies sought to hire.

Tara’s professional career provided a deep knowledge of sales and marketing, a broad background in green building and sustainability, and some expertise in the water industry. Always working toward excellence, Tara has studied animal behavior and positive reinforcement training, and continues to educate herself in cutting-edge theories and methodology.

An outstanding presenter, Tara is experienced in delivering informative, stimulating presentations to professional audiences, including engineers, architects/designers, mechanical contractors, and consumers. Her presentation skills have transferred easily to animal training and she uses her decades of experience to provide easy-to-understand and effective training sessions and presentations. Tara is considered an excellent communicator with keen observation skills. She is also creative and can work with both animals and humans to solve problems and improve relationships. Her techniques include fun, simple exercises with the handlers and dogs, TAG points for quick, precise handler understanding, PowerPoint presentations, and printed hand-outs. Tara is an active member of Karen Pryor Academy and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. She maintains networking connections with many other positive reinforcement trainers throughout the United States and globally.

Fun facts about Tara: Her experience in front of audiences includes 15+ years of professional acting in television and film; she is a graduate of UCLA. Tara’s husband is French-American and they are raising three multi-lingual children in Orange County, California, where they keep a lovely, little urban farm.
