Terri Sershen owns Paws on Cue dog training and is a 100% positive reinforcement trainer. She is located in Overland Park, Kansas. Terri is a proud graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Dog Trainer Professional (DTP) program; she is now a KPA Certified Training Partner. Terri has also completed the Puppy Start Right for Instructors and the Dog Sports Essentials courses offered by KPA. She attends ClickerExpo conferences yearly and pursues ongoing education and training for herself and her dogs.
Terri grew up in Minnesota and is retired from “Corporate America.” She has a longstanding love of animals, and graduated from college with a degree in equine management. Terri has competed in obedience, agility, herding, and conformation with her own dogs. Having taught the “traditional way” for many years, Terri realized she was on the wrong path while she was obedience training her Gordon setter. The traditional methods were causing her dog to shut down. Training just wasn't fun for either one of them. This awakening led Terri to search for a better way of communicating with dogs.
The path she found led her to her first ClickerExpo in Chicago, where world-class trainers, Karen Pryor Academy faculty members, and KPA Certified Training Partners (CTP) were in attendance. Terri has never looked back! The awakening to positive -based training was instant. After graduating from Karen Pryor Academy as a Certified Training Partner, Terri continued to take courses through KPA, completing the Puppy Start Right for Instructors and Dog Sports Essentials programs. She has a passion for force-free training and is always looking to expand and update her skills.
Terri loves to work with all breeds and kinds of animals and finds fulfillment in seeing the “ah-ha” moments in learning new skills—when it all comes together for humans and animals alike. Currently, Terri has two Australian shepherds, a Gordon setter, two eclectus parrots, and a Rocky Mountain gaited mare. All of the animals have been clicker trained.
Terri offers private dog training covering puppy training, basic obedience (for competition), trick training, foundation agility, and behavioral issues. She also teaches group classes at two area locations.
